Nestled within the tall red rocks contrasted against a clear Arizona sky couples will find the ultimate retreat in Sedona, Arizona. Sedona is a top choice for parents and couples looking to escape the hustle and responsibilities of everyday life and immerse themselves in a romantic setting.
We have visited so many incredible locations across the United States with our kids, and the top place we would like to return to without kids is Sedona. There are just so many things to do here that would be fun to experience with your partner and without the kids.
There is something so magical about this area. Sedona’s vortexes, known for their unique energy, add a mystical aura to the already romantic landscape. Surrounded by red rock formations, these spiritual sites create the perfect setting for couples to deepen their connection and experience the magic of the desert.
The best part about Sedona is that you can have an incredible couple’s getaway regardless of the length of your trip. The town is relatively compact, making it easy to do many of the activities on this list in a short amount of time while maintaining a relaxed vibe. Even if you only have a weekend away, you will still return home feeling completely relaxed and refreshed.

Best Time for a Couple’s Trip to Sedona
A wonderful thing about Sedona is that it is a year-round destination. You can visit in the heart of summer or deep in the winter.
The best times to visit Sedona are spring (MarchโMay) and fall (SeptemberโNovember), when mild temperatures attract the most visitors. These peak seasons bring crowds and higher costs but offer ideal hiking and sightseeing conditions.
For fewer crowds, visit in early summer (late MayโJune) or late fall (Novemberโearly December).
Winter (DecemberโFebruary) offers quieter trails but comes with potential icy conditions, while summer (JulyโAugust) brings scorching heat, often exceeding 100ยฐF, making outdoor activities challenging.

How Many Days is Enough For Sedona?
I say you can have an incredible trip to Sedona even if you only have a weekend. However, 3 or 4 days would be the ideal length of time for the perfect trip. Any extra time is a bonus!
If you have extra time, you could add a day trip to Grand Canyon National Park to your Sedona itinerary. The south rim of the Grand Canyon is only a 2-hour drive from Sedona.
Another fun day trip from Sedona is Flagstaff, Arizona. Flagstaff is only about a 45-minute drive north of Sedona on State Route 89A. This highway is incredibly scenic and well worth the drive if you have the time.
Note that trucks over 50′ long are not allowed on this highway due to the switchbacks and hairpin turns. It is unclear if this rule applies to RVs, but I would not recommend it anyway.

For wine lovers, Sedona and the surrounding Verde Valley offer plenty of opportunities for a relaxing day of wine tasting.

You can either download the map on an app or bring a physical printout along and receive a stamp at each winery location. Once you visit 10 of the stops on the passport you are entered into a drawing for some (really good) prizes! Such a fun activity to do with your partner!
